Gasparilla Music Fest
So you want to hit a really good music festival? No need to travel to Lollipoplooza or Spongegrundge (we’re pretty sure that’s a thing but please don’t Google it). When it comes to showcasing emerging artists and established talent, Gasparilla Music Festival delivers… and then some.
You can pretty much put it on your Outlook calendar as a recurring event, because it takes over Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa the second weekend in March every year. This year’s festival is scheduled for March 10th & 11th and features musical acts from a wide variety of genres on multiple stages.
While most fans will be drawn in by The Roots and Father John Misty, there’s a ton of accomplished bands that shouldn’t be overlooked – Spoon, Warpaint, The Record Company, Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles, Break Science Live Band, Hard Working Americans and more. Looking for something more immersive? Kickoff the festival with SoHo Cycling LIVE and ON STAGE on Saturday morning for the #rideofyourlife. If you’re the strong silent type, you won’t want to miss the Silent Disco Saturday Night that features a retro, uber danceable playlist. Check out the complete weekend lineup here!
Some more extras… there’s food, and we’re not talking about a fried turkey leg handed to you out of a sketchy roach coach. Of course we’re partial, but our two favorite restaurants will be featuring some pretty tasty grub:
Élevage & Haven have teamed together. Check out these offerings
- Juicy Lucy burger smothered with aged cheddar and their super-secret “comeback sauce” with bread & butter pickles.
- Smoked Chicken Torta graced with Pasilla chili and crushed avocado.
Here’s a list of all the participating restaurants. Tito’s and Cigar Brewing are the beverage sponsors, so… BAM.
Need to feel good? By attending, you’ll be supporting GMF’s non-profit organization that fosters music education through its Recycled Tunes program.
A final thought. It’s March. You’re on the west coast of Florida. Combine our spring weather with the views of the downtown skyline and University of Tampa with good music. Guaranteed weekend concert nirvana.
