Mainsail Lodging & Development Announces Spring Property Enhancements Scrub Island, Epicurean Hotel and Mainsail Beach Inn Add Upgrades

Posted On March 23rd, 2017

TAMPA, Fla. (March 23, 2017) – Mainsail Lodging & Development is announcing a new round of upgrades and enhancements to three of its properties: Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina in the British Virgin Islands, Epicurean Hotel in Tampa and Mainsail Beach Inn on Anna Maria Island. Ranging from new artwork, furnishings and lighting to outdoor amenities and landscaping, the spring improvements include a mix of the aesthetic and the adventurous at these distinct hotels and resort.

Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina

Improvements at this private-island, AAA Four Diamond resort in the British Virgin Islands include the opening of Donovan’s Lounge, landscaping, a historic walk and garden tour and Flex Boats. Donovan’s Lounge, which is named after Donovan’s Reef, is located inside the Caravela Restaurant and features a relaxing ambiance with comfortable seating and a drink menu highlighting Caribbean favorites, martinis and reimagined classics designed by the bar staff. The new state-of-the-art irrigation system and comprehensive planting program will enhance the lush landscaping around the resort’s luxury villas, roadways and marina village with flora such as bright and rambling bougainvillea. Starting from the Grand Pavilion, the new history walk takes guests for a morning stroll to discover the island’s rich and colorful past – from Christopher Columbus’ discovery and early Dutch settlers, to plundering pirates and present-day facts on how the resort was developed. The walk concludes in the history garden at the top of Little Scrub Island, where guests can take in breathtaking, panoramic views of the Caribbean. For adventure-seekers, the resort now offers a fun fleet of new Flex Boats. Available for rent from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the boats allow guests to explore the waters of Scrub Island, Marina Cay, Great Camanoe and Trellis Bay for up to 4 hours for $250. Epicurean Hotel

Located in the trendy Hyde Park historic district of South Tampa, the food-focused Epicurean Hotel has announced a variety of updates to the popular rooftop lounge, EDGE Social Drinkery. Upgrades include the addition of a 60-inch television, computerized ambient lighting, new artwork and refreshed seating areas. Food and beverage options are being expanded as well, with new wine, beer and cocktail lists, and updated menus. Comfortable seating areas throughout EDGE now sport updated cushions in classic stripes of gray, blue, orange and cream, complemented by burnt orange throw pillows. Dramatic new lighting adds even more color, illuminating the bar area in shifting shades of light. Specially commissioned by Bern’s Steak House and the Epicurean Hotel, the artist Dalek will supply new artwork for EDGE. His artistic creation is scheduled to be unveiled April 23 to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Bern’s Winefest. Wine and beer offerings at EDGE are being nearly doubled and will include local craft options. In addition to classics such as the Old Fashioned, Moscow Mule and others, all served with an EDGE twist, the expansive cocktail menu will showcase some edgier new craft cocktails. Guests can try the Slurring Soccer Mom, with Stoli Elit, St. Germain, fresh lemon juice and fresh berry reduction, or the Surrender the Booty, a wink to Tampa’s Gasparilla celebrations that includes Stoli Elit and apple liquor. Feeding all the fun is a new menu of innovative, made-to-order small plates, such as short rib quesadillas and duck lettuce wraps. Desserts will be offered for the first-time and are accompanied by a list of ports, sherry and madeira. For information or reservations, call (855) U-AWAKEN (829-2536) or visit
