Celebrity Chefs to Create Healthy Meal Ideas at Feeding Tampa Bay Warehouse

Posted by Epicurean, September 2015

Simon Majumdar, a Food Network personality; Emily Ellyn, the Retro Rad Chef from Food Network; and Whitney Miller, season 1 winner of FOX’s Masterchef, will stop by the Feeding Tampa Bay warehouse to celebrate Hunger Action Month and raise awareness for the cause.

The chefs will be challenged to go on a timed shopping spree in Feeding Tampa Bay’s Winn-Dixie Charity Market to combine different foods found at the food bank to create fun meal ideas. Each chef will have to explain their food pairings, how to prepare the meals and the nutritional value to teach Feeding Tampa Bay’s agencies and families how to use donated food more efficiently.

About Feeding Tampa Bay

Founded in 1982, Feeding Tampa Bay is the largest food rescue and distribution organization in the community, serving a food-insecure population of more than 700,000 people in a 10-county area. Feeding Tampa Bay recovers surplus food donations from local growers, manufacturers, supermarkets and organized community food drives and distributes it to those in need through a partnership network of more than 600 faith-based and other incorporated non-profit hunger relief organizations.

Over the last five years, Feeding Tampa Bay supplied more than 100 million pounds of food, enough to provide more than 3 million meals every month to those who would otherwise go hungry. Feeding Tampa Bay was honored as WEDU’s Be More 2014 Nonprofit of the Year.
