Next month, the Epicurean Hotel welcomes our sixth featured artist, Chris Valle to the library lounge gallery in partnership with CASS Contemporary Art Space & Studio.

If you haven’t seen our rotating satellite gallery, it is ongoing daily inside the Epicurean Hotel, and changes every few months to feature a new artist commissioned by CASS Contemporary.

On Friday, May 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. you’re invited to the CASS: Chris Valle Art Opening Reception at the Epicurean Hotel. Tickets are $25 per person, and can be applied to any purchases you make during the event. Guests will also enjoy Chateau St. Michelle wine, Coppertail Brewing Co beer and Cinco de Mayo inspired hors d’oeuvres.

About the Artist Chris Valle
Chris is a Florida native, who received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Florida in 2002. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and museums in over 130 exhibitions, including the major art cities of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and Dallas as well as internationally with exhibitions in Italy, Germany and London.

Conceptually, Valle’s work explores how the affect and influence of entertainment and advertisements has a profound influence on our perceptions about sex and body image. While television pretends to reflect our realities similar to a mirror, he believes it does not give us a pure reflection. Instead we view already established, ready-made versions resisting the reality.  Valle’s paintings play into a social commentary about how media has manipulated our society and aims at “instilling doubts in the viewer regarding the nature of reality.” Using classical and experimental approaches, he combines representation and abstraction in every single one of his works of art. Be sure to pay close attention to each painting, as you’ll uncover the message of awareness represented throughout the entire series and be in awe.

You may be wondering how CASS and the Epicurean’s partnership started: Well, Jake and Cassie Greatens, the studio’s owners and Tom Haines, General Manager of the Epicurean Hotel, both strive to craft an immersive one-of-a-kind experience for guests and locals. The collaboration provides members of our community an additional venue in which to view and appreciate art.

The result… exciting art events and a dynamic relationship! RSVP today for CASS: Chris Valle Art Opening Reception at the Epicurean Hotel and get a sneak peek inside more of Chris Valle’s art here
